Who we are
Tanzania Growth Trust (formerly Tanzania Gatsby Trust – TGT) is a non-profit organization registered and operating in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar since 1992. The trust has, over the years, evolved to become a leading catalyst for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and farmer development through innovations which make the market works for the poor. The overall aim is wealth creation through
empowering vulnerable groups and SMEs with entrepreneurial, managerial and technical competencies; financial access as well as opportunities in various value chains.
We strongly believe in the potential of ‘industries without smokestacks’, which continue to be a great source of opportunities for entrepreneurs across the continent. TGT is open to working in partnership with others striving towards an enterprising Tanzania in all aspects which prosperity is widely distributed.
For the past 29 years of operations, TGT has reached over 300,000 clients through in both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. From 2010 to 2020 we have reached 8,000 credit clients – 80% being women, over 8,500 horticulture farmers in Zanzibar, over 4,000 Women SMEs though its Virtual Business Incubator model.
